Terms of Service

You must be 18 or over to hold an account. Keep your password to yourself; you are responsible for what happens under your account. One person, one account — tell us at support@scribbletales.com if you think someone else has got into yours.

Everything the service generates is paid for in credits: writing a page, drawing a page, drawing a character, making a cover. Prices in credits are shown before you commit, and the exact cost of a book is estimated for you before generation starts.

Credits are reserved before a generation runs and returned automatically if it fails, so a failed generation does not cost you anything. Credits do not expire.

Credits have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money and cannot be transferred to another account.

A paid plan grants a set number of credits each month: Storyteller 200, Author 450, Studio 1,200. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. Billing is handled by Stripe.

Annual plans are charged for ten months and grant twelve months of credits at the start of the year.

You can cancel at any time from the billing portal. Cancelling stops the next renewal; your plan runs to the end of the period you have paid for, and the credits already in your wallet remain yours.

One-off credit packs are a single purchase and do not renew.

Credits that have been spent on a generation cannot be refunded — the work has been done and paid for on our side. If something has gone wrong, write to support@scribbletales.com and we will put it right; we would rather fix a bad result than argue about it.

Where consumer law gives you a right to cancel a purchase, that right stands and is not affected by anything here.

You agree not to use Scribble Tales to create or upload:

• any sexual content involving a minor, or any content that sexualises a child in any way;
• content that is illegal, hateful, or that harasses or defames someone;
• a photograph of a person who has not agreed to it — and where that person is a child, you must be their parent or guardian;
• work that infringes somebody else's copyright or trade mark.

We may remove content and close accounts that break this. The first item in that list is absolute: it will be actioned without warning and reported where the law requires.

You own what you make. We claim no ownership of your stories, characters or illustrations, and we do not use your books to train models.

Personal use. The Free, Storyteller and Author plans are for personal, non-commercial use: reading, printing, gifts, classroom use.

Commercial use. The Studio plan includes a commercial licence — you may sell books you create while on it, and that licence survives for books made during a paid Studio period.

You give us permission to store and display your books so that we can run the service, and — only if you list a book in the public library — to show it there until you unlist it.

Books are produced by AI models. Output varies, will not always be what you hoped for, and may occasionally be wrong or odd; that is the nature of the tool, and it is why credits buy attempts rather than guaranteed results.

The legal status of AI-generated work differs between countries and is still settling. We cannot promise that a given illustration is protectable by copyright, and you should take your own advice before building a business on that question.

We aim to keep the service running but do not guarantee it will be uninterrupted. We may change or withdraw features. We depend on third parties — notably Google's generation APIs and Stripe — and an outage at one of those can stop generation or payment for a time.

The service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, or lost data. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited — including your rights as a consumer.

You can stop using the service and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. If we close your account without cause, we will refund the unused part of any subscription you have paid for.

We may update these terms; the date at the top will change, and we will email you about anything significant. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
